As a media professional, Shimul Salahuddin has precisely pursued the ideology of freethinking, freedom of speech, and ethical journalism. As a cultural reporter, he is spreading the power of cultural components through various media in order to bring qualitative change to the society and politics of Bangladesh.
Taimur Mohammad Salahuddin, a.k.a Shimul Salahuddin, is country's one of the most influential electronic and online media professionals. He used to work as creative director in multiple international and national media houses and advertising agencies in consultancy formats. He is currently working as ‘Head of Events and Branding’ at The Daily Desh Rupantar. In his 16+ years of professional career, he has worked as the Assistant Editor of ‘MUJIBPEDIA’ (A complete encyclopedia on the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman). As a journalist, he worked for satellite channel BIJOY TV as ‘Editor, Content’, Newsbangla24.com as ‘Assistant Editor’, Barta24.com as ‘Special Correspondent’, Independent Television as ‘Senior Broadcast Journalist’ and ‘Head of Art Culture and Entertainment. Beforehand, he also worked for Channel I as ‘Assistant to the Chief Program Manager’ and DESH TV as ‘Trainee Broadcast Journalist. Shimul is one of the best interviewers of Bangladesh. He has taken up-close and personal interviews of politicians, prominent intellectuals, filmmakers, writers, and performers of Bangladesh, India as well as international celebrities who came to visit Dhaka. He went to UAE, Thailand, and India several times as a broadcast journalist. He was a part of the ‘100 Youth Delegation to India’ 2014. He is one of the Jury of the Aga Khan Architecture Award, and a nominee for several arts, dance, and film festivals across the globe. He is also one of the major poets of contemporary Bangla Literature with his published and celebrated four poetry books. Shimul is the founder of GALUMGIRI, a nonprofit nonpolitical organization that produces media content and organizes events to represent the enlightened vision of the civil society.
Born on 17 February 1987 in Dhaka, Shimul Salahuddin is an anthropology graduate (Honors & Masters) from Jahangirnagar University. He obtained his second master's degree in Development Studies from University of Dhaka. During his student life, he was the first ever-elected President of ‘Jahangirnagar Shangskritik Jote’, an alliance of all cultural groups of the university. He led the prestigious recitation group ‘DHONY’ at JU as well as successfully conducted four anti-sexual harassment movements from 2004-2010, which resulted in passing the ‘National Anti-sex Harassment Bill’ from Bangladesh National Parliament. To establish a unique ‘Culture TV’ channel is his dream, which would explore and portray the beauty, versatility and power of human culture in form of media content.
